Abstract
Neurilemmoma originating from sheath cells of the peripheral nerve has been extensively reported in almost all regions of the body, but it occurs very rarely within the pterygomaxillary space. The characteristic lesion is a solitary encapsulated and slowly growing benign tumor which shows often degenerative change such as cystic alteration.
Authors experienced a case of neurilemmoma in the pterygomaxillary space. It was 53 year old female patient who had suffered from nasal obstruction and ear fullness on right side. Pro¡þtruding mass was noted at right side of choana. Inferior turbinate was displaced to the medial side due to protrusion of meatal wall. Initially, it was seemed to be an antral cyst.
By means of Caldwell-Luc¢¥s operation, the mass was completely removed from pteryomaxillary space and histopathological examination revealed characteristic findings of neurilemmoma.
